National Payroll Week 2022

National Payroll Week was established in the UK by the CIPP (the Chartered Institute of Payroll professionals) in 1998 to celebrate the payroll profession and to give it the recognition it deserves. As payroll professionals for over 16 years, we love to get involved and offer an insight into why payroll is so much more than just pressing buttons on software! We need to not only have a knowledge of legislations and regulations but also the understanding of them which is where the industry crosses in the HR territory.

The week is designed to demonstrate the impact the payroll industry has in the UK through the collection of income tax and National Insurance. Did you know that  £345billion* was paid to the government through income tax and national insurance contributions this tax year? That’s nearly £100 billion more than last year!

After our incredibly busy year last year supporting clients with the furlough scheme, this year has seen us helping clients find a ‘new normal’ and guide many new start ups. The taxing nature of payroll was recently displayed in the long running Harpur Trust case where holiday for part time, term time workers has now been changed to reflect their varying hours, click here to see more on the Harpur Trust case.

Last year was the most successful National Payroll Week to date, we are supporting CIPP to make NPW22 the biggest year yet, celebrating payroll professionals tremendous success at keeping the UK paid.
